Award of Valor
Purpose
The Award of Valor is presented for an outstanding act of daring or bravery.
Eligibility
Recipients can be anyone who is in a law enforcement-related job (either sworn or non-sworn) within the organization. It is not necessary that they be members of CPOA.
Nomination
The nomination can be made by any member of the department employing the nominee. The nomination must be supported by and signed by the department head. Department heads may be nominated by:
- the executive of their governmental agency,
- any member of the CPOA Board of Directors,
- the executive director of CPOA.
Online submissions are encouraged, however nominations may also be mailed or faxed to be received in the CPOA office by February 15.
Approval Process
Final review and approval is determined by the Awards Committee. Questions or clarifications may be requested from local region boards and/or the submitting agency.
