The Award of Distinction is presented for an outstanding act or accomplishment by a law enforcement individual or unit for an ongoing operational activity that performs a great service to the community. Only one individual should be designated to represent any unit submittals.
Recipients can be anyone who is in a law enforcement-related job (either sworn or non-sworn) within the organization. It is not necessary that they be members of CPOA.
The nomination can be made by any member of the department employing the nominee. The nomination must be supported and signed by the department head. Department heads may be nominated by the executive of their governmental agency, any member of the CPOA Board of Directors, or the executive director of CPOA.
Online submissions are encouraged, however a nomination letter may be faxed, mailed or sent electronically to
cpoa@cpoa.org, to be received in the CPOA office by
July 30th.

Final review and approval is determined by the Awards Committee. Questions or clarifications may be requested from local region boards and/or the submitting agency.
